Before the first cold front snaps, take time to "Share Your Warmth" with those in need by donating gently used winter apparel to Star of Hope at the Sun & Ski Sports winter clothing drive November 10-29. "Share Your Warmth" collection boxes will be set up to collect pre-owned (or new) coats, jackets, sweaters, hats and gloves at all five Houston-area Sun & Ski Sports stores.

"We encourage individuals, families, schools and community organizations to get involved to help Star of Hope, which is experiencing a 20 percent increase in the numbers of homeless people served this year over last," said Barry Goldware, President and CEO of the Houston-based adventure sports retailer. "They've had a consistent overflow of people all summer long and this need was exacerbated by Hurricane Ike. The population will increase further when winter sets in and these folks will need our help," he explained.

Over the past ten years, Sun & Ski Sports has collected more than 23 tons of clothing to provide warmth to Houston's homeless, according to Marilyn Fountain, Star of Hope Community Relations.
"Share Your Warmth" collection bins are located at Sun & Ski Sports stores throughout the Houston area: 6100 Westheimer, Memorial City Mall, Katy Mills Mall, 5503 FM 1960 West and 1355 Bay Area Boulevard.

Through Emergency Shelters and Transitional Living Centers, Star of Hope touches the lives of more than 7,000 different homeless people each year, including more than 1,600 children. Star of Hope ministers to approximately 1,000 men, women and children every day with food, clothing, shelter, Christian care and structured recovery programs.

Sun & Ski Sports, the "guide to the great outside," outfits enthusiasts who ski, run, hike and bike around the world. The store's e-commerce site is www.sunandski.com.
